Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the most recent meeting on Nov. 29, the road construction plans for River Landing Village at the end of Pier View Street were discussed. Committee members asked that the plans be revised and resubmitted. The next meeting will be held on Dec. 6 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The most recent meeting was held on Dec. 5. On the agenda to discuss were the request for a variance from the Daniel Island Master Plan to allow an encroachment into the Visual Buffer Zone at 1432 Smythe Street and the request for a one-year extension of a vested right that expires on Dec. 31, 2018 at 1124 Oak Overhang Street. The vested right pertains to a variance granted in 2016 to allow the removal of one grand tree.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The most recent meeting was held on Dec. 4 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — The most recent meeting was held on Dec. 3 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on Dec. 19. The agenda is not yet published.
