Our community is vibrant and caring. A recent example was helping to plan a Primary Election in the time of COVID-19. I contacted Principal Leigh of the Daniel Island School, who put me in touch with Head Custodian Broomfield.
Ms. Broomfield met us at 5:45 a.m. to open the building, explain the safety protocols already in place for a “one way in and one way out” system, made sure we had enough tables, chairs, trashcans, etc. and made sanitized restroom facilities available.
Principal Leigh checked in midday to see that everything was satisfactory. Ms. Broomfield was there to close again at approximately 7:40 p.m. that evening.
All of this was repeated two weeks later for the Primary Runoff Election. I am very grateful to Principal Leigh and Ms. Broomfield for the help and service they provide as a superior polling location within our community.
