Thank you Councilman White for stop sign installation assistance
Back in late Spring 2015, there was a four-way stop sign installed at the intersection of Daniel Island Drive and Fairchild Street. On the day this happened I was jumping for joy! Yes - over a stop sign! I have Charleston City Councilmember Gary White to thank for this wonderful stop sign. I have been a resident of Daniel Island for 15 years and every day prior to this installation, Codner’s Ferry residents would basically have to “make a break for it” to beat the oncoming myriad of trucks and cars speeding down Daniel Island Drive. As a parent of a new driver, I just prayed that my child wasn’t going to get hit crossing that street. After putting in numerous requests, nothing was done for a year. I mentioned it to Councilmember Gary White and after assessing the situation and agreeing that it was dangerous, he facilitated the installation of the stop sign within an extremely short period of time. Thank you Charleston City Councilmember Gary White. Your effective work made Daniel Island a safer place for everyone!
