Nance Mace is the true partisan

The hypocrisy evidenced in Nancy Mace’s column on partisanship would be laughable, if the situation were not so serious, and our democracy not so in peril. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Her unwavering support for a president who takes joy in betraying our Constitution — conspiring with a foreign power to influence our elections is one of the most basic fears that the founders had — and who has made a mockery of the very office of the presidency, with his lack of morals and basic decency, has to be the most partisan behavior imaginable. What other reason could there be to support someone who has hijacked the long-standing values of the Republican Party regarding the Constitution and family values?

At least Mitch McConnell is authentic when he announces that he will not allow a fair trial and that he will take his orders from the president rather than the Constitution. Mitch takes great pride in his partisanship. Yet Nancy wants to pretend that she is not partisan?

I’m with Mayor Riley in admiring the courage of Joe Cunningham to honor the oath that he has taken to defend the Constitution, while so many others are choosing to dishonor that very oath.

Humbled and Grateful

As we look forward to both a new year and the start of a new decade, I want to take a moment to thank every person who has donated to Palmetto Goodwill, shopped in our stores or volunteered their time.

We are proud that 2019 marked our 40th year of operation and that more than 90 cents of every dollar we generate is used to provide job training and employment services to those in need. The community support we received last year allowed Palmetto Goodwill to have an immense impact, serving over 20,000 individuals (including 1,200 veterans) and helping place more than 4,000 into new jobs.

As Palmetto Goodwill continues to grow and evolve, we are humbled and grateful to be able to serve a greater good, and we remain committed to being a valued provider of education, training and employment services to those in need. On behalf of our dedicated Board of Directors, employees, partner agencies and most importantly, the people we serve, we thank you. We are truly grateful for your support and contributions and we promise to make 2020 and beyond even more impactful.
