Pumpkin Walk and Drum Circle

Do you love fall with the crisp cool air and pumpkins on the porches? Mark your calendar for the second annual Daniel Island Pumpkin Walk & Drum Circle on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 7 - 9 p.m.

What is a pumpkin walk? Several years ago our family attended the “Jack O-Lantern Spectacular” at the Providence Zoo in Rhode Island. Just imagine 5,000 carved pumpkins, candles glowing and nestled in the woods along a tree lined nature trail.

We want to bring this experience to Daniel Island, only on a much smaller scale.

It will be a fun, non-spooky child-friendly event. The plan is to place jack-o-lanterns along the wooded path in Barfield Park starting at Thrower Street, which winds through the woods to the gazebo. Davin’s Drums will be returning again this year to lead us in the interactive Drum Circle, which the kids and parents alike will enjoy.

The admission to the Pumpkin Walk & Drum Circle is a carved pumpkin with candle and $5 per family. Please deliver pumpkins to the Barfield Park Gazebo Saturday Oct. 29 between 3 - 5 p.m. This allows us time to set up the pumpkins. The entrance fee is to be paid at the Property Owners Association on Rivers Landing Drive no later than Oct. 28th.  Look for more information in the Town Crier. Remember to bring a flashlight, snack/beverage and a beach chair to the event.

What can you do to help make the Pumpkin Walk “spooktacular”?  Volunteer to be a member of the Pumpkin Walk committee. Our job will be to carve tons of pumpkins, transport the pumpkins to the path and set up the pumpkins in the woods, line the path with 200 luminaries and clean the path after the event. Please donate your time and make the second annual Pumpkin Walk & Drum Circle a special event for our kids!
