Revelers celebrate Mardi Gras Daniel Island style
Colorful costumes and creativity were on full display at the Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 29. The free event started with a parade that marched to Guggenheim Terrace, where attendees enjoyed an overflow of entertainment by a stilt-walker, bubble maker, tarot card readings, henna tattoo artist, an “on the fly” poet, and a live band.
Spearheading the festivities, Black Tie Music Academy co-owner and Daniel Island Grand Marshal Kris Manning wore a blue tutu and a dragon puppet on her shoulder. As kids danced and the music played, she was thrilled to take part in her first official event as grand marshal.
