A roundup of Rotary activity in December
The Rotary Club of Daniel Island was busy last December.
At the Dec. 4 meeting, Melissa Stowasser with Trident Technical College spoke about the impact of the Youth Apprenticeship Program. There are currently 118 apprentices participating in the program, in which education is fitting an employment need in the community in addition to providing profitable careers to local residents. The club supports the program through funds raised at the Rotary Duck Race.
At the Dec. 18 breakfast meeting, Marie Butler with the Palmetto Conservation Foundation spoke about the Palmetto Trail that crosses the state and is currently 368 miles long. Also at that meeting, the club welcomed three new members — Ashton Lamb, Kyle Taylor, and Kevin Condon.
Club members were active in several service projects throughout the month, including delivering meals, participating in Angel Christmas, contributing to Toys for Tots, and helping with improvement projects at area homes through the Nail Bangers Hobby Club.
