Sip Shop Support event a success
The air was a little warm for the first annual Sip Shop Support last Wednesday evening on Daniel Island, but that didn’t stop shoppers who were eagerly looking for deals at some of Daniel Island’s most popular shops and businesses. With the shopping area divided into four districts in the Daniel Island Town Center, it was easy to navigate from business to business. If walking was not possible, it was convenient to catch a trolley to the next district.
Vendors from all over the Charleston area, many of which are home-based businesses, set up shop throughout Daniel Island and offered one-of-a-kind jewelry, home goods, clothing, and many more unique gifts for sale. While it was a shopper’s delight, the main purpose of the event was to raise money for the Campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. And that, too, proved to be a success!
“Over twenty local businesses hosted over forty guest vendors for the first ever Daniel Island Sip Shop Support on June 22! Event organizers are pleased and proud of the turnout for our first event! More than $15,000 was raised through sponsorships and business and participant donations for the Campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital!” said Lauren Hoffman, volunteer for the event. “Thank you to those of you who came out to enjoy sips, do some shopping, and support the Campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. We are especially grateful to all Benefitfocus volunteers and thank them for giving their time to help check in guests. Event organizers are already talking about how to improve the event next year. Initial thoughts are to change the timing to fall.”
