Daniel Island School Trident Basketball teams finish season
Congratulations to the Daniel Island Osprey girls’ 6th grade team, coached by Casey Kellermann (head), Josh Soper and Jim Chambers (assistants), for finishing their season undefeated (12-0). The team also stormed through the playoffs undefeated, only to lose to a heartbreaker in the championship game to Northwood Academy.
The 10-13 finals loss was the girls only defeat of the season, but it was a year to remember for the lady Ospreys, noted Coach Kellermann. The Daniel Island Osprey girls’ 8th grade team, coached by Anderson Dreyer (head) and Nathan Holleman (assistant), finished their season 8-4 overall and played in their opening game of the playoffs on Tuesday, February 7 at James Island Christian School vs. Christ Our King. They were named the runner up team in the Division 1 championship, according to a Facebook post on the Daniel Island School Osprey Basketball page. Players Coco Pampu and Jaiah Williams were recognized on the page for winning “all division” honors.
Steve Brooks, Athletic Director of the Trident Basketball League at Daniel Island School, also thanked coaches for the 6th grade boys’ team (4-8), Wes Western (head) and Lance Ludman (assistant), the 7th grade boys’ team (6-6) Rocky Catalano (Head), Matthew Laydon and Pat Ethridge (assistants), and the 8th grade boys’ team (6-6), Steve Reed (head) and Cameron Bush (assistant).
