Douglas Dodson is Super Bowl Week Pick 'Em Winner
Douglas Dodson is the winner of the Super Bowl Week Football Pick ‘Em. He was one of two people to have five correct picks this week and won the tie breaker. He beat sponsor Brad Rose of Palmetto Custom Carts. Despite losing to Dodson in the weekly pick ‘em, Brad Rose won the competition among sponsors to take home the “Top Sponsor” title.
Dodson, a retired civil engineer for Santee Cooper, lives in Moncks Corner with his wife, Patty. The Citadel and South Carolina graduate currently works from home for an engineering firm in Alpharetta, GA.
He said, “I enjoy playing the DI Pick ‘Em contest because it makes it more exciting to watch the football games when you have a chance to win something.” He said he selected the underdog Eagles to win, “Because I did not want to see the Patriots win again.”
Brad Rose, who has held the number one sponsor record for several weeks, went with the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl. He held off a strong challenge from the previous third place sponsor, Tom Werner of Charleston One Source, by successfully selecting the leading tackler of the Super Bowl, the only sponsor to pick that category correctly.
As the sponsor champion, Rose has directed that the $500 charitable donation from The Daniel Island News by directed to the Charleston Jazz Academy. The Charleston Jazz Academy works in partnership with local schools, parents, and students of all ages to bring together highly motivated students in a collaborative and challenging environment to expand their repertoire and nurture the skills of improvisation. The donation will go towards supporting scholarships for young musicians in need of financial assistance to continue their music studies.
