Michael Meleca beats everyone at 12-0, wins Vespa gift card

Michael Meleca scored a perfect 12-0 in this week’s pick ‘em challenge to beat Stephen Bartus, formerly of Residential Home Funding.

Meleca owns Better Environment. He explained that his company does quite a bit of work on the island for residents who need crawlspace encapsulations, renovations and even some pest prevention.

“I play when I get a chance because I still am very interested in football both college and pro,” he said. “I was captain of my high school football team in NY and played a little in college until I chose to concentrate more on academics.”

Sponsor Stephen Bartus is changing jobs and, as a result, had to drop out of the sponsorship. Daniel Island News publisher Sue Detar is his replacement for the remainder of the contest.

Each week from now until the Super Bowl, readers will be given the opportunity to “Beat the Sponsor” and to win great prizes. We will email a link to the survey each Tuesday via a Daniel Island News eblast and we will also put the URL link on our Facebook page and here in the paper. To be eligible to win, you must select your entries online by noon on Friday. There is no cost to enter. If you’d like to be added to our eblast, please send your email address to sdetar@thedanielislandnews.com.

To enter, go to www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZH86KWW and fill out your ballot.

Each week, we will also include a running win-loss record for each of our sponsors and the paper will donate $500 to the charity of choice of the sponsor who has the best overall win-loss record at the end of the season. Rosie Stieby remains in the lead but Noell Smith and Brad Rose are close behind in a tie for second place.

This week you compete against Noell Smith of Kellermann Smith for an opportunity to win a $50 gift certificate to Sermets.
