Propes caps seven-year golf career at Ashley Hall

Daniel Island resident Raegen Propes is concluding her golf career as a member of the Ashley Hall golf team, and she is concluding it in style.

Propes and her Panthers teammates competed in the SCISA State Championships, and the team was in third place Monday after the first day of competition, which was held at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence. The final 18 holes were scheduled for Tuesday.

Propes shot a 75, 3-over-par to hold down fifth place in the individual standings, trailing leader Bridget Wilkie of Hilton Head Prep, who recorded a 2-under-par 70.

Hilton Head Prep was in the driver’s seat and was well on its way to another state title with a most impressive team score of 297, which is 9-over par. That was good enough for a 47-shot lead over second-place Porter-Gaud, which carded a 344. Ashley Hall held down third place with a team score of 352. Thirteen teams competed in the meet.

Propes has been on the Ashley Hall golf team for seven years, and will compete at the next level as a member of the College of Charleston golf team.

In August, Propes won the Charleston Classic Invitational with a two-day total 141 to finish 3-under-par.

She also competed in the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea in August and finished in 14th place.
