WaterFest Fun at The Waterfront
The laughter of children, the melody of a guitarist belting out the Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” — these were the sounds carried on the wind and welcoming attendees to WaterFest at Children’s Park and the Wando Dock on Saturday, Oct. 5.
A festive crowd gathered off River Landing Drive on Daniel Island for the free event hosted by The Waterfront, a new luxury waterfront condominium community with site work going on now. Many children and families could be seen playing corn hole, jumbo Jenga, and relay races in the park while listening to live music and sampling the delicious food and drinks provided by Dockery’s, King of Pops and other food trucks.
Although the sky was overcast and the water was choppy, the mood on the dock was cheerful and celebratory as guests toured the new boat, Indigo, and enjoyed cookies and bubbly. During the christening ceremony for the boat, Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg praised the owners of Daniel Island Ferry for their persistence and determination in fulfilling their dream of providing commuter ferry service to the island.
