JUNE 1, 2006:
The top news story reported the Daniel Island Company planned to submit a plan for a waterfront marina on the property south of the sales center within 90 days. It was reported, “While creating its plan for the shoreline, the company received input from two of the best waterfront designers in the country,” [Matt Sloan] said. The proposed plan, which had been drawn up by a top-flight architect, was packaged as a little marina village with an ambience reminiscent of the Beaufort, S.C., waterfront. Sloan said the proposal would be submitted to public agencies within 90 days. This plan never came to fruition. Instead, just within the past few months, The Waterfront opened in the same area.
JUNE 2, 2011:
The top news story focused on Marty French, who was named principal of the Daniel Island School. French, a Daniel Island resident who had served as principal of Howe Hall Arts Infused Magnet School (AIMS) in Goose Creek for the previous three years, was officially appointed to the top administrative post at the Daniel Island School on May 24, 2001.
In other top news, a Shih Tzu-Maltese mix named Bridgett was rescued after a harrowing few hours running free on the Don Holt Bridge during morning rush hour.
JUNE 2, 2016:
The cover featured the Blackbaud Inc. (NASDAQ: BLKB) announcement about its plans for a new world headquarters on Daniel Island. Blackbaud is a provider of software and services for the global philanthropic community and had operated at its original Daniel Island location since 2000. The report noted Blackbaud’s state-of-the-art workplace and innovation center would expand its community outreach and was expected to create 300 additional high-tech jobs over the next five years.
