MAY 25, 2006: 
 
The paper was focused on local produce and farmers markets. At the time, there was not a market on Daniel Island but locals frequented the Mount Pleasant and North Charleston farmers markets regularly.
 
Island Life included photos from the Concert in the Park which featured the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. 
 
A story about Boone Hall Plantation’s newest endeavor at the time took a look at the opening of Boone Hall Farms market. The market on Highway 17 offered fruits and vegetables grown at Boone Hall, fresh-baked breads, sandwiches, soups, a butcher shop, and local seafood.
 
MAY 26, 2011:
 
The top news story was the list of victims of debit/credit card fraud on Daniel Island was growing. Both island residents and island employees had been affected. City of Charleston Police and the Charleston office of the United States Secret Service were investigating the string of cases. 
 
After an article on the subject appeared in the previous week’s Daniel Island News, multiple new cases were reported to the paper via phone, email and Facebook postings. Approximately 30 people notified the paper about their debit or credit card numbers being compromised in recent weeks. Unauthorized charges continued to be posted all across the United States and at international locations.
 
MAY 26, 2016:
 
The cover and top story was about the South Carolina Oyster Restoration and Enhancement Program (SCORE), which is a community-based oyster restoration program administered by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in collaboration with federal, state and local funding partners, as well as dozens of community and school partners. The article featured Daniel Island School seventh graders who were building a restorative reef off of Daniel Island.
 
Also in the news, members of Daniel Island-based Girl Scout Troop 705 poured a large chunk of their sales from Girl Scout cookies into Water Missions International, a local nonprofit targeting the global water crisis.
