PSA: Steam testing planned

Curtiss-Wright Steam & Air Solutions, designer and manufacturer of mission-essential, high-speed rotating equipment solutions, including reciprocating and centrifugal air compressors, steam turbines, and steam system valves, that support U.S. naval vessels, will be testing these product lines in its Summerville facility.
This includes the performance of steam testing.
SAS will be performing first-of-production certification testing for steam valves to be used aboard U.S. naval vessels. These tests will occur during May and June and include periods of prolonged steaming, increasing the ambient noise in the area. The tests began Thursday, May 16, and are expected to continue through June 9.
Because of the extent of these tests, there will be two planned periods of boiler operation for steam production overnight. The tests are necessary to ensure the proper operation of the valves before shipment to be installed aboard U.S. naval vessels.
Current Estimated Schedule:
Monday, May 20 – Wednesday, May 22 - sustained steaming
Saturday, May 25 – Friday, May 30 – 5 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
Sunday, June 9 - day only
