SCDOT plans I-526 resurfacing, expect delays

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has begun resurfacing two stretches of Interstate 526 in the Charleston area. This road construction work will take place over the next couple of months and may result in temporary lane closures or detours between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Resurfacing will take place in the following locations:

·     I-526 between Long Point Road and Chuck Dawley Boulevard in Mount Pleasant

·     I-526 between International Boulevard and Highway 17 in West Ashley

Motorists should follow signed detour routes and use caution when driving near work zones.

SCDOT has developed a Strategic 10-Year Plan that addresses improvements to the state’s highway and bridge systems. Learn more about the plan and area road closures at scdot.org.
