That part of Seven Farms Drive, where it intersects with Pier View Street and Bucksley Lane, has long been a concern for pedestrians and drivers alike. In August, District 1 City Councilman Boyd Gregg reported to the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association that the city was finalizing designs for pedestrian improvements at the Pier View crosswalk, and is also collaborating with Dominion Energy to improve nighttime lighting on that road. The designs would be similar to the crosswalk between Publix and Credit One Stadium.
Councilman Gregg said he is aware of the pedestrian's death, "It’s a heartbreaking situation, and my thoughts are with everyone involved."
He added, "The city is actively working on the pedestrian crosswalk improvements. Currently, we are making necessary design modifications related to the curb bulb outs and stormwater management, as well as incorporating enhanced lighting to improve safety. While I don’t have a specific timeline for when these updates will be finalized, I am hopeful that we will see significant progress next year."
