Parents and caregivers, mark your calendars.
The Berkeley County Library System announced the return of Storytime, a program designed for young children that combines stories, songs, rhymes, and movement activities to teach early learning skills in an interactive setting.
Families can participate in stories read by library staff, along with dancing, singing, and activities.
Each Storytime session is structured to support early literacy, focus, and communication skills.
“We are happy to provide Storytime for our children with new stories and more activities,” youth services coordinator Sharon Fashion said.
The seasonal schedule provides families multiple opportunities to attend, with sessions running now through the last full week of April and also during June and July, and from September through early December.
“Storytime is a key part of BCLS’s family programming,” said Young Adult Librarian Jessica Nuckolls.
“Whether you’re a regular attendee or new to the library system, this program offers an opportunity for children and their caregivers to engage in literacy-focused activities. We look forward to sharing more stories and activities with you.”
Nuckolls said many families anticipate Storytime’s return and often visit multiple library locations in Berkeley County to attend additional sessions, as the program highlights and promotes reading and community involvement.
Storytime is free, along with other programs and events offered by the library system. Organizers encourage families to check out the “My 1st Library Card and My 1st Book Bag” program, which provides children with a library card to start their reading journey.
