Put away that Halloween candy – it’s time to start prepping for the Thanksgiving feast!
Or is it?
You wouldn’t know it by walking through some retail stores, which are heralding Santa’s arrival already.
This year Thanksgiving is just a little more than 3 weeks before Christmas. So can you blame folks for getting an early start on the December holiday?
When is it too early to display your holiday decorations?
Comments: So when is too early? Tell us when you start decorating and if you are a minimalist or go all out. To read all the comments for this and past surveys, go online to bit.ly/45vehL9
• Advent begins this year on Dec. 1 and the Christmas season is Dec. 25 through January 12. Starting early is fine but, let’s keep the party going a bit longer and not put the decorations away on Dec. 26 in order to enjoy the fullness of the season!
• Tree & inside decorations go up first weekend after Halloween (of course it also depends on UGA football schedule) & outside goes up when we get home from Thanksgiving.
• Many of these light displays are aggressively bright. We don’t need commercial level decorations. A little restraint and taste would be appreciated. If you are going to have lights, take the time to hang them properly. Don’t just fling them over the landscaping. Sheesh.
• Tasteful and classic.
• My husband and I disagree on “when.” As a compromise, indoor decorations start the day after Thanksgiving. Much to my chagrin he has a company installing the outdoor lights on Nov 1. Next question should be when to take down decorations.
• Day after Thanksgiving.
