‘Xan the Man Golf Tournament’ scholarships awarded

Bishop England High School recently held its Senior Awards Ceremony and three students were recipients of $5,000 scholarships from the Xan The Man Golf Tournament.

The recipients are Anna Spence, Kyle Crimmins and Emma Canterbury.

Spence and Canterbury are headed to the Bridge to Clemson program. Spence will be in pre-pharmacy while Canterbury is planning a health-science program.

Crimmins, who will enroll at Clemson, plans to study civil engineering.

The Xan Bowman Scholarships and golf tournament were established in 2017 soon after Bowman passed away before his scheduled graduation from Clemson. He graduated from Bishop England in 2012 and was a member of the Bridge to Clemson program.

It marked the second year BE students benefitted from the Xan the Man Golf Tournament. Last year’s recipients were John Michel and his cousin, Grace Michel.

The tournament has produced $25,000 in scholarships in just two years.

The third annual Xan The Man Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Summerville Country Club. Entry fee will be $400 a team, and, as usual, the tournament will be seeking hole sponsors and other prize donors. For more information, call (843) 814.2113 or visit https://xanthemangolf.com.
