More than 60 family and friends, adults and children, assembled in the multi-purpose room at the DI Recreation Center to commemorate the yearly Jewish holiday with balloons, music, and prayer.

Festival organizer Matt Levin and his son Gilad enjoy the fun festivities and traditional foods and beverages to celebrate the 2024 Chanukah season.

Dozens of families and friends celebrated the Festival of Lights at Daniel Island’s 11th Annual Chanukah Celebration, held this year at the Daniel Island Recreation Center on Dec. 27.

Traditional Chanukah foods and beverages were on hand to sample, as well as a lighting of a Menorah candle. Organizers also read a prayer supporting peace in Israel.

“There is so much antisemitism we are seeing in the news right now,” organizer Matt Levin said. “I think it’s important for us to teach our children not to be afraid and to be proud of their Judaism and embrace it.”
