Business Briefs: Indigo Reef Brewing turns 4, Fifth Third Bank announces new hires

Indigo Reef Brewing Company celebrated its fourth anniversary with a four-day weekend of beers and cheers at its taphouse off Clements Ferry Road.
The locally-owned brew pub opened its doors in June of 2019 and kicked off its festivities with the release of new beers, anniversary glassware and a Summer Sip and Shop Market at its 2079 Wambaw Creek Road location.
The brewery offers a wide variety of homemade lagers, ales, IPA’s, and stouts and promotes itself as an ocean-friendly and environmentally sustainable company.
Fifth Third Bank expands
Daniel Island resident Jen Morris recently joined Fifth Third Bank as a senior mortgage loan officer/vice president. She was previously with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. She has over 20 years of mortgage experience and has a bachelor’s degree from Radford University.
Kent Austin also joined Fifth Third Bank as a senior mortgage loan officer/vice president. He was previously with Citizens Bank Mortgage. He has over 20 years of mortgage experience and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Kent is a Mount Pleasant native and is a graduate of Wando High School.
Harry Smith joined the Fifth Third Bank as area sales manager. He was previously with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. He has over 45 years of mortgage experience and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Fifth Third Bank (5/3 Bank), the principal subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp, is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their client base spans retail, small business, corporate, and investment clients. They operate 1,100 branches and 50,000 automated teller machines which are in 11 states: Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia The name “Fifth Third” is derived from the names of the bank’s two predecessor companies, Third National Bank and Fifth National Bank, which merged in 1909.
Locally, Fifth Third’s first retail branch will open on Folly Road next month. The second branch will be at 710 Coleman Boulevard, Mount Pleasant and is scheduled for opening in November of this year.
