Delights Dessert and Coffee, a local food truck known for its homemade pastries and flavored espresso, has wheeled onto the Cainhoy peninsula, setting up shop in the parking lot in front of the former LowCo Café on Clements Ferry Road.
With permission from the new 1171 Clements Ferry Road building owners, Delights Dessert and Coffee opened at the location on Aug. 14. Co-owner Sam Fino, who has catered at the Philip Simmons schools and events all over Charleston since August 2019, shared what prompted the move.
“We knew that the LowCo Café had closed and that there was a coffee and pastry void that needed to be filled,” she said. “It’s my understanding it was a well-loved cafe and we would love to fill their shoes as a delicious, locally owned option!”
Fino, who co-owns the venture with Alan Willett, highlighted their commitment to creating everything from scratch. The locally owned company offers a full espresso menu made iced, hot, or flavored to the customer’s liking. In addition, their rotating pastry menu includes desserts like mixed berry cream cheese Danishes, yogurt
parfaits, key lime pie and blueberry muffins – to name a few.
Now in their fourth year of business, Fino said the most exciting part of their new location is getting to have regulars again. The owners cater events everywhere from downtown to Summerville, but Fino shares it will be nice to have a permanent spot in addition to their other events.
Clements Ferry locals have already shared their enthusiasm about enjoying the homemade pastries and coffee minutes away from home.
“The coffee and treats they serve up are delicious!” Clements Ferry local Anne Lee Taylor said. “They are a great addition to the location and the owners are amazing!”
Blaine Marshall, another Clements Ferry local and Fino’s father, expressed his thoughts as his daughter’s “toughest critic.”
“I’ve seen their attention to quality and freshness and the product is really, really good while still being affordable. Clements Ferry is growing like crazy, so the new location is great.”
The food truck’s regular operating hours at 1171 Clements Ferry Road are currently Monday to Friday, 7-10 a.m., with the possibility of extending these hours based on demand.
Delights Dessert and Coffee’s presence is currently under observation as the owners explore its long-term viability in collaboration with Toni’s Detroit Style Pizza, the building’s new owners.
