Winners in the 7-8 year-old girls’ category (100 meter swim, 2.4 mile bike, ½ mile run): Lilah May (1st), Sarah Ligon (2nd – not pictured), and Bridgette DeWolf and Madelyn Moore (tied for 3rd - Moore not pictured).

Winners in the 7-8 year-old boys’ category (100 meter swim, 2.4 mile bike, ½ mile run): John Warren Cason (1st), Jason Chalupsky (2nd) and Brody Jones (3rd).

Winners in the 9-10 year-old girls’ category (100 meter swim, 2.4 mile bike, ½ mile run): Ansley Kate Chapman (1st), Haley Franko (2nd) and Ginny Cason (3rd).

Winners in the 9-10 year old boys’ category (100 meter swim, 2.4 mile bike, ½ mile run): Jack Ham (1st), Connor Good (2nd) and Sean Wilson (3rd).

Winners in the 11-12 year old girls’ category (200 meter swim, 5.5 mile bike, 1 mile run): Elizabeth Kelley (1st), Elena Evin (2nd) and Elizabeth Maltezos (3rd).

Winners in the 11-12 year old boys’ category (200 meter swim, 5.5 mile bike, 1 mile run): Bryce May (1st), Luke Chapman (2nd) and Wesley Patterson (3rd).

Winner in the 13-14 year old girls’ category (200 meter swim, 5.5 mile bike, 1 mile run): Josephine May (1st).

Younger participants took part in a 1/2 mile run as part of the competition.

Ninety-seven young athletes first swam laps at Pierce Park Pool and then took to the streets of Daniel Island to bike and run in this year’s event!

Close to 100 local youth competed in the 14th Annual Daniel Island Kids Triathlon last Saturday, June 8. Hosted by the City of Charleston Recreation Department, the event featured swimming, biking and running for kids aged 7 to 14.

Awards were given to the top three finishers in each age group (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14).
