Holiday Classic raises funds, spirits for MUSC Children’s Hospital
The 17th Annual Holiday Classic presented by Safelite benefiting MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital welcomed more than 200 tennis players to LTP at the Daniel Island Tennis Center for a weekend of competitive tennis and pickleball on Dec. 6-8.
Events included men’s and women’s doubles along with mixed doubles.
Safelite returned for a sixth year as the presenting sponsor. New Realm Brewing Company on Daniel Island provided the Friday night player party dinner.
Tournament players, LTP members, and guests generously gave from the heart resulting in a win-win for the cause in donations of more than 250 items for the SJCH Child Life Department Wish List providing a direct impact for the children undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“Being in the hospital at any time is hard, however, being able to play during a stay allows the children an experience which is somewhat like a normal day outside of the hospital,” said Nancy Heinz, tournament director and membership manager at LTP Daniel Island. “The real winners are the children at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital who will enjoy the generosity of each who supported this year’s event with the arrival of our presenting sponsor Safelite service van’s delivery filled with new toys and art and craft supplies to refill the hospital’s therapeutic playroom.
“What started at ‘Love-Love’ has developed into a long-lasting relationship between LTP Tennis and MUSC. Congratulations to our tournament champions and finalists.”
