April 12 was declared Isabella Rybak Day in honor of her work supporting military dog teams
Isabella Rybak, a 13-year old island resident, is a Youth Brand Ambassador for Warrior Dog Foundation, established by the former Navy SEAL Mike Ritland.
Isabella started her own organization, K9 Warriors in 2015. She says her mission is to provide military working dog teams with anything and everything they want or need or miss from home. She is currently on her second care package drive, and so far has collected $1,000 in donations. If you’d like to contribute, there is a drop off location at Hairy Winston Pet Boutique and Grocery in Mount Pleasant for item donations as well as monetary donations. You can also contact Isabella at Itsadoglife24@gmail.com for the needed items list or to arrange a donation.
On April 12th Mayor Tecklenburg honored Isabella with a proclamation at the city council meeting for her work, specifically for sending care packages overseas to deployed military working dog teams, The Proclamation proclaimed that April 12 is Isabella Rybak day! Mike Ritland from the Warrior Dog Foundation came from Cooper Texas to help celebrate the honor. He brought K-9 Joe with him! Also, Isabella’s two K-9 unit buddies with Charleston police department came to surprise and support her.
Isabella said, “I really hope this will bring in more donations so I can provide more for the military working dog teams! This is a very small way to help them after they’ve done so much for us and our country!”
