Early voting records set
In Berkeley County, early voting kicked off with a bang, breaking records and is showing no signs of slowing.
In the first two days of early voting, 8,067 votes were cast throughout Berkeley County. South Carolina as a whole also saw record-setting numbers, with more than 125,000 voters turning out the first day, nearly double that old record numbers of 70,100 set in 2022.
"We are thrilled to see voters embracing the convenience of early voting, and we are anticipating a significant turnout for this election," said Howie Knapp, executive director of the State Election Commission (SEC).
Voters are urged to prepare for longer wait times across all early voting locations and to consider bringing water, an umbrella, and comfortable shoes.
Due to record-breaking turnout in Berkeley County, starting Oct. 24, overflow parking at the elections office location was made available at the old KJ's parking lot at Bilo Drive in Moncks Corner. Tri-County Link is providing shuttle service from the overflow lot to the Berkeley County Administration Building at 1003 N. Highway 52. Traffic will continue to be rerouted at the Administration Building to accommodate the increase in visitors.
