PSES students get schooled on county government!

Second grade students at Philip Simmons Elementary School (PSES) have been learning about the role of local government in the community. As part of that instruction, they were recently given a firsthand look at Berkeley County government operations through a visit from County Councilman Josh Whitley, a Daniel Island resident. Joining Mr. Whitley for the session were Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis and Resource Officer Henry Richardson.

Daniel Island Academy students court Valentine’s Day fun

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, students at Daniel Island Academy are in the mood for love. And Cupid himself would surely be proud of their efforts! Students aged one through four are taking part in several projects related to the upcoming holiday, including a door decorating contest that will be judged by members of the Parent Association of Daniel Island Academy (PADIA) and residents of neighboring Summit Place. They also plan to deliver some homemade, heartfelt decorations to their Summit Place friends this week. Here are a few pictures of their caring creations thus far!
