You don’t need an invitation to stop by - By Invitation Only opens Daniel Island location

Owner Dena Bailey is no stranger to the stationary business. She opened her first store of the same name, about 3 ½ years ago in Summerville. Bailey decided to open a second location on Daniel Island because the community feel and closeness of the island reminded her of Summerville. "The customers at my Summerville store are my friends, everyone knows everyone else and it’s very family oriented. I feel the same way about Daniel Island."

When asked how she became interested in the personalized stationary business, Bailey laughed and explained, "Growing up I used to always tell my family that I wanted to someday own a Hallmark store." While the offerings are far from the predictable stationary and gifts one might expect to find at a larger commercial stationary store, there is a large selection to choose from. Vendors include Carlson Craft, Crane, Inviting Company and many more. All of the printing is done in-house, with just a few days of turnaround time.

Even if you’re not in the market for stationary, By Invitation Only carries an array of gift items—including custom designed dinnerware, trinket trays, holiday items and pillows from Coton Colors Pottery. Two standouts include decorative lampshades and bases from Lampwear Monograms and personalized color coordinated picture frames offered by Feel Good Frames. Other items include pewter giftware, linen cocktail napkins, initial soaps and candles, purses, slippers, and seasonal gift items. Gift wrapping is complimentary.

The Daniel Island location is run with the help of partner, Jennifer Daniels, who chose all of the gift items and whose unique touches can be seen in the store itself.
