Library summer reading program for all ages
The Berkeley County Library System Summer Reading Program 2026: Unearth a Story invites preschool ages to adults to participate in summer reading and win prizes.
Program dates include:
Summer Reading June 1 – Aug. 3.
Prizes may be redeemed June 8 – Aug. 8.
Give Our Books New Looks Contest: June 1 – Aug. 31.

Summer Reading features a lineup of performers including Tim Sonefelt: Paleo Palooza and Miss September & Friends, Adventures with Snowgran: Shake Rattle and Roar!
Paleo Palooza will be coming to the Daniel Island Library on June 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Additional times available at other BCLS locations.

Miss September & Friends: Adventures with Snowgran: Shake Rattle and Roar! will be at the Daniel Island Library on July 22, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
A ticket is required for each show performance and will be available one week before the performance date.
The summer program also includes Give Our Books New Looks Art Contest, which begins June 1, for third-fifth grade students to design a cover or draw a scene from a favorite book and be entered to win a prize! The deadline to submit all artwork is Aug. 31. One entry per person. Entry rules and directions can be found online here.
“We hope that this year's Summer Reading Program encourages children to become lifelong readers. We also hope to encourage the reluctant readers with the different activities they can do to complete the Summer Reading Program. Most of all we would like it to become a family activity,” said Sharon Fashion, Youth Services and Summer Reading Program coordinator, in a statement.
