Sage advice from ‘Red Eye Radio’
One morning last fall, I left Daniel Island well before sunrise headed for a day in the woods.
Folks who don’t share my outdoor obsessions may have never heard of “Red Eye Radio.” It’s a nationwide talk radio program targeting long-haul truck drivers, and I occasionally tune in when I find myself driving instead of sleeping in the pre-dawn hours.
On this particular morning, one of the hosts offered some perspective that resonated with me and which many of us might consider as another tense election season looms ahead.
He said, “People who avoid their neighbors, shun friends or distance themselves from family members over which party or candidates they support are, in most cases, damaging relationships with the people who care about them the most to benefit people who don’t care about them in the least.”
I wish you all happy voting, Daniel Island friends and neighbors!
