Movie filmed on Daniel Island qualifies for Southern Fried Film Festival

The local 30-minute movie "To End All Days," was recently accepted into the Second Annual Southern Fried Flicks Film Festival, set to take place January 13-14 in August Georgia’s historic Imperial Theatre.

Lara Plocha, Festival Director said, "All the films submitted had merit, unfortunately we had to make some tough choices and only 76 films made the final cut."

The festival and judging was designed to showcase independent film created by Southern filmmakers with a special emphasis on local and regional film.

"There is plenty of talent in the South," Barnhardt says. "We have the resources and the talent to power movies coming this way."

"To End All Days," Barnhardt’s third short movie, Jones’ first, intersects the lives of a hitman who is trying to get out of the business, a man who exchanges all of his wrong decisions for one good one and a sorority princess with a greedy weakness. The cast and crew of six core members spent three months shooting and editing quintessential Charleston scenes highlighting Boone Hall, Cypress Gardens, Daniel Island and downtown, using Charleston gear from Trident Technical College and showcasing Lowcountry talent.***image1***

Jones said, "This particular festival is category-specific and they [festival staff] were inundated, so it’s just wonderful that our movie was chosen and an honor to be involved."

According to www.withoutabox.com Southern Fried Flicks Film Festival aims to inspire, encourage and support films and filmmaking in the South, and Mike Purro, the late owner and operator of South Windermere Theatre would probably agree with that mission.

With Purro’s support "To End All Days" premiered at South Windermere Theatre upon its release in September.

Barnhardt said, "I am very proud of the crew and actors. This opens a tiny crack in the opportunity door to show the film community that we mean business."
