Residential burglaries reported in Daniel Island Club neighborhoods
Three overnight residential burglaries were reported last weekend at Daniel Island Club. Items were stolen from unlocked vehicles and homes, prompting Charleston Police to remind people that locking up valuables and using security systems can reduce crimes of opportunity. A 41-year-old Gibbes Street man told police that someone stole two credit cards from his wife’s vehicle and then entered the home’s kitchen area while the family slept upstairs. The man’s wallet was removed from the kitchen counter and found outside the house, minus cash and two credit cards. Someone also entered an unlocked garage on Hidden Bottom Lane and stole a backpack lawn blower and weed whacker. An in-dash DVD player was also reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Daggett Street. In other police news: Jan. 10 – Lumber valued at $310 was reported stolen from a construction site at 2417 Daniel Island Drive; Jan. 13 – An electric water heater ($350) was stolen from a house under construction on Elfes Field Lane in Beresford Hall; Jan. 15 – Fifteen wooden planks were stolen from a house construction site on Royal Assembly Drive in Beresford Hall; Jan. 15 – Police were reviewing tapes from Rew’s Run-In of a shoplifting incident in which a 40-year-old man reportedly stole two 12-packs of Heineken beer.
