Two Seven Farms Road projects get nods from CCDRB, hotel concept sent back to drawing board

The Commercial Corridor Design Review Board gave final approval for construction of an apartment complex on Seven Farms Road and preliminary approval for an office building at 295 Seven Farms Road at their Jan. 12 meeting but denied conceptual approval for a hotel at River Landing Drive and Seven Farms Road.

Approvals on the apartment complex and the office building were contingent on agreement to follow staff recommendations.

Recommendations for the apartment complex included elimination of shutters, screening of dumpsters and addressing a concern that "the building doesn’t breathe," a staff member said. The designer is Thomas and Hutton Engineering for Greystar Development.

Regarding the office building, applicant Stubbs Muldrow and Herin, Architects was asked to consider some design revisions to make it look more different from the other building immediately adjacent.

Regarding the River Landing Drive/Seven Farms Road hotel, both board and staff were concerned about the overall massiveness of the project and how such a large building would fit into the small park. The architect is Stubbs Muldrow and Herin, Architects. A company spokesman said the architects are redesigning the project and will be resubmitting their application, probably in mid-February.
