Real estate market 'resilient' as home closings on DI see big jump

There was a significant increase in home sales in March, with 55 properties sold on Daniel Island, totalling almost $110 million.

As a comparison, there were 40 homes sold combined in January and February of 2026.

As of April 24, there are 62 properties under contract and 98 properties currently for sale.

"We are seeing an increase in inventory, or the number of homes on the market," said agent Renee Reinert of Carolina One Real Estate. "We are still seeing the prices continue to drop slightly, but the housing market overall shows remarkable resilience despite the war and related uncertainty around oil and gas prices, which has affected both the stock market and the interest rates."

Reinert said there is a trend where homes up for sale are staying on the market longer and not getting snapped up as quickly as in the past.

"Homes are no longer typically selling in one day or one week," she said. "A few still may sell quickly. but it is no longer the average. Now we have to be patient as the market continues to adjust to its new normal."

The most expensive home sold in March was 430 Fish Tale Road at $7.9 million, while the least expensive was Unit 112 at 400 Bucksley Lane at $410,000.

Reinert also noted that some home sellers are taking the silent approach, preferring not to advertise their listing publicly.

"We are seeing an increase in the number of sellers wanting to sell 'quietly,' which means they do not want their home listed on MLS, Zillow, or Realtor.com."
