Fishing club and fish-finding dog elevate your fishing experience

The Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club held its annual holiday party Dec. 1. It was a great event. Lots of friends, food, and fishing stories. While at the event, I was asked several times if Brody (the amazing fish-finding and stock-trading dog) actually helps me to find fish. My response was unequivocally, “YES!”

Let me explain.

Brody will be nine years old in February. Ever since he was a puppy, he has fished with me two days per week. That is a lot of fishing. Over the years, I believe Brody has come to recognize locations where we consistently catch fish. Docks. Marsh drains. Submerged oyster bars.

Literally hundreds of locations are committed to his memory. Well, at least that is my theory.

So, as we approach a location that he remembers, Brody leaves his station next to me at the wheel and sits down by the trolling motor at the bow of the boat. This is how he tells me we should fish here.

That is my logical explanation. However, if Brody went to the trolling motor every time we were near a location where we have previously caught fish, he would constantly be on the bow of the boat. Which he does not. There is a bit of randomness to when Brody says, “Fish here.”

I am still trying to figure that part out.

Does Brody actually help me find fish? Yes. Does he actually trade stocks? Yes. He has accounts on multiple trading platforms. Is Brody amazing? I leave that question for you to answer. But I think so.
